Glycolic Acid, also known as hydroxyacetic acid, is one of the important and smallest acids belonging to the AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) group. It is either found naturally in some of the sugar crops, but is also prepared synthetically in the chemical lab by making chloroacetic acid react with sodium hydroxide and then making it go through a re-acidification process.
